Horchata de semillas de melon

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • Seeds from a melon (honey melon, cantaloupe, netted melon, except watermelon)
  • 40 g sugar
  • 1 liter of water

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Rest time approx. 3 hours; Total time approx. 3 hours 10 minutes

Drink made from melon seeds

Halve the melon, scoop out the seeds with a teaspoon, and place them in a tall container (reserve the flesh for another purpose!). Add the sugar and 1 liter of cold water. Blend thoroughly with a hand blender or in a blender until all the seeds are shredded. Let this mixture sit in the refrigerator for about 3 hours. Stir briefly and strain through a fine-mesh sieve. Serve ice-cold. For a slight variation, it’s also delicious with a dash of vanilla, cinnamon, or lemon juice. The amount of sugar is a matter of taste, of course; you can use more or less. You can also replace the sugar, either fully or partially, with sweetener.
