How to Remove Yellow Plaque on Teeth at Home: Professional and Folk Methods

In addition to fillings, extractions, and other manipulations of the teeth, it is important to pay attention to the color of your teeth. Lack of oral hygiene, frequent consumption of colorful drinks, and bad habits lead to the yellowing of enamel.

Dentists recommend taking preventive measures in order not to run the situation or maintain the desired shade of tooth enamel.

How to whiten teeth with baking soda

The easiest method of such whitening is to apply the powder to a toothbrush and brush your teeth as you normally do. The result will be visible immediately – the tooth enamel will be lighter and stronger, and the bad breath will disappear. There are also combined recipes with baking soda:

  • Soda and hydrogen peroxide 3% – mix in a ratio of 1:1 to form a pulp, apply to the brush, and brush your teeth. Rinse your mouth thoroughly.
  • Soda and lemon – on a toothbrush, pour 0.5 teaspoons of baking soda and a couple of drops of lemon. Brush your teeth and rinse with warm water.
  • Soda and strawberries – mix 3-4 berries with 0.5 tsp of soda, apply the pulp to the teeth, and leave for 5-10 minutes. Rinse your mouth and fix the result by brushing your teeth with fluoride toothpaste.

Features of the method: soda is an active substance, which aggressively affects the surface of the tooth. Therefore, if you have sensitive teeth or gums, thin enamel or there are inflammatory processes in the mouth, you should not whiten your teeth with baking soda.

How to brush teeth with charcoal

How to whiten teeth with hydrogen peroxide

Dentists believe that the most gentle method of whitening teeth with peroxide is a rinse. You need to mix a 3% solution with boiled water in a 1:1 ratio, brush your teeth with toothpaste, and then rinse your mouth with the resulting mixture for two minutes. Then rinse again, but already with clean boiled water to wash off the peroxide residues. Such manipulation can be performed twice a day – the effect will be gradual.

Features of the method: Any advice that you can apply a concentrated solution of peroxide to tooth enamel is dangerous. An antiseptic in high doses may cause hypersensitivity in the teeth or destroy their tissues. Only people with absolutely healthy teeth may use peroxide for whitening purposes.

How to whiten teeth with apple cider vinegar

A combination with baking soda is also effective: mix vinegar and baking soda in a 1:1 ratio until a pulp forms, brush your teeth, leave for 5-10 minutes, then rinse with warm water.

Features of the method: apple cider vinegar with regular use will not only help to brighten the enamel but also improve oral hygiene, as it effectively fights bacteria. Use such a remedy, the way and natural can only be used by people with strong enamel and healthy teeth.

There are three types of dental products on the market that can brighten your enamel and give you a beautiful smile.

Whitening strips

You need to open the package of strips and remove the protective coating from each of them. Stick the long one on the upper tooth row and the short one on the lower tooth row. The upper and lower strips press firmly against the teeth along the gum line, and the remaining edge twists to the inside of the teeth. Toothpick or fingernail swipe the strips where the teeth come to each other so that the whitening gel gets into the interdental space. Leave the strips on for 30 minutes, rinse your mouth, and brush your teeth with toothpaste.

Features of the method: some people say that using the strips increases the sensitivity of the teeth, but dentists say that it is not dangerous to health. It is strictly forbidden to swallow the saliva that is excreted during the procedure – it must be spat out. It is forbidden to brush your teeth before using the strips, and during the whitening course drink coffee, wine, and other colorful drinks.

Bleaching mouth guards

The principle of action of mouthguards is the same as the strips – they are plastic pads that hold the gel on the teeth. Using the mouthguards is not complicated – you need to brush your teeth with toothpaste, then blot them with a napkin. Fill the inside of the mouth guards with gel, put the pads on your jaws, and close them tightly. At the end of the procedure, remove the mouthguards and rinse your mouth with water.

Peculiarities of the method: in order to make suitable mouthguards, you need to see a dentist. The period of treatment and all the nuances associated with it are set individually, depending on the condition of your teeth and gums.

Whitening gels

This method is suitable if the tarnishing of enamel is minor. Gels contain fluoride, which kills bacteria, brightens enamel, and removes bad smells from the mouth. Using the gel is simple: pre-brush your teeth, and blot them with a napkin. Scroll the pencil until the gel appears, and apply it to your teeth. Wait 10-15 minutes and rinse with warm water.

Peculiarities of the method: you cannot eat or drink for half an hour after the procedure. The procedure itself is best performed twice a day, the effect will be noticeable in 4-7 days. You can whiten your teeth by 2-3 tones in this way.
