Ingredients for 8 servings:
- 2 onions (finely diced)
- 500 g minced meat (mixed)
- 2 eggs
- 2 tsp paprika powder (sweet)
- 2 pinches of paprika powder, rose hot
- 1 tsp salt (plenty)
- 500 g onion(s) (cut into rings)
- 2 jars of sausages (cocktail sausages, approx. 50 pieces)
- 2 bottles of chili sauce (or similar)
- 125 ml red wine
- Cayenne pepper
- 2 rolls (stale)
- Salt
Instructions
Working time approx. 40 minutes; Total time approx. 40 minutes
Soak the rolls and squeeze out excess water. Mix with onions, ground beef, egg, and spices to form a smooth meat dough. With wet hands, form 5-6 long sausages, about the thickness of your thumb. Let them chill in the freezer for about 10 minutes so they retain their shape better when frying. Now brown the minced beef sausages in a casserole dish, add the onion rings and brown them, along with the cocktail sausages. Deglaze with red wine and chili sauce, simmer briefly, and season with salt and cayenne pepper. Tip: Best served with freshly toasted white bread. Note: Since I’m not a big fan of adding alcohol, I replaced the red wine with broth.
