Hungarian paprika vegetables

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 750 g bell pepper(s), yellow and green
  • 500 g tomatoes
  • 2 large onions
  • Salt
  • 50 g lard
  • 1 tbsp, crushed paprika powder, rose hot
  • possibly bacon, streaky, smoked

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Lecsó

Wash, deseed, and slice the bell peppers. Peel, deseed, and quarter the tomatoes. Peel and dice the onions. Heat the lard and fry the onions until golden brown. Sprinkle with paprika. Add the bell pepper strips and tomatoes and simmer over low heat for 30 minutes. Season with salt. This pairs well with meat dishes. For a heartier flavor, you can add some smoked bacon to the lard and then cook the vegetables.
