Kaffeluder's Turkish minced meat and leek casserole

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g minced lamb
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 200 g feta cheese, cut into cubes
  • 500 g yogurt, 10% fat
  • 2 zucchini, cut into small cubes
  • 2 leeks, cut into 6 cm long pieces
  • 8 m.-sized potatoes, cut into 5 mm wide slices
  • 3 garlic cloves, pressed or grated
  • salt and pepper
  • Paprika (red granular powder from Turkish grocery stores)

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Form the unseasoned minced meat into thumb-sized pieces and sear them in olive oil. Mix the feta cheese, yogurt, diced zucchini, and all the spices (season well!). Layer the lamb, leeks, and potatoes in a shallow casserole dish and pour the yogurt over them. Bake in the oven at 150°C (300°F) for 1 hour and 20 minutes. Serve with toasted flatbread or simmets (sesame rings, available at Turkish grocery stores).
