Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 2 kg potatoes
  • 500 g onion(s)
  • 4 slice(s) pork belly, fresh, lean
  • 150 g diced ham
  • 1 tsp, leveled salt
  • n. B. Pfeffer
  • Fat, for the tray

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 30 minutes

East Prussian, crispy – hearty potato dish, recipe from Grandma

Peel and coarsely grate the potatoes. Peel and chop the onions, and dice the pork belly (without the rind). In a large bowl, knead the potatoes, onions, and pork belly with the diced ham until well combined, seasoning with salt and pepper. Grease a baking sheet and spread the potato mixture on it. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C for at least 1 hour, until the potatoes are crispy brown. Let cool for half an hour, then cut into pieces. Serve with a fresh salad.
