Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 150 g white bread, sliceable
- 100 g cheese (grey cheese or mountain cheese)
- 100 ml milk
- 2 eggs
- 1 tbsp flour
- Salt
- 100 g butter for frying

Cut the white bread into small cubes and place in a bowl. Heat the milk and dissolve half of the cheese in it. Grate or dice the other half. Add it to the dumpling bread along with the eggs, salt, and flour. Knead the mixture thoroughly and let it rest for about 15 minutes. Form into round dumplings and flatten them with your hands. Fry the pressed dumplings in butter in a pan until browned on both sides. Meanwhile, bring a large amount of water to a boil in a pot and simmer the pressed dumplings. Cooking time: about 8-10 minutes. Serve the pressed dumplings in meat broth with fried onions or with coleslaw. Tip: If you like, you can also add a tablespoon of chives to the dumpling mixture.
