Kasseler Cabbage Pot

The perfect kasseler cabbage pot recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 1,5 liter Beef broth
  • 400 g Kassel roast salmon
  • 600 g Potatoes
  • 2 piece Pretzel
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 520 g Sauerkraut drained
  • 1 bunch Chives fresh
  • 1 tsp Mustard
  • Salt and pepper
  • Sugar
  1. Bring the beef broth to the boil in a large saucepan. Cut the smoked pork into 1-2cm pieces.
  2. Peel the potatoes, wash them and cut them into large pieces. Add the potatoes, smoked pork and sauerkraut to the broth. Cover and simmer over a low heat for about 20 minutes.
  3. In the meantime, cut the pretzels into thin slices. Heat the butter in a pan and fry the pretzel slices in it.
  4. Season the Kasseler cabbage pot with mustard, salt, pepper and sugar. To serve, distribute the stew on plates and sprinkle with the pretzel croutons and chives.
