Keeping Rolls Fresh – The Best Tips

Spread the love

This is how you keep bread rolls fresh longer

  • You should not store baked goods in an airtight package, except for freezing. In such a bag, the rolls quickly get a soft crust and then no longer taste so good. A paper bag is better for this, as the air can circulate through it.
  • The ideal temperature for storing rolls is between 18°C and 22°C, i.e. at room temperature.
  • You should not keep rolls or bread in the fridge because the climate is too cold and too wet.
  • Just like bread, you can also put rolls in a bread bin. When buying, however, make sure that the box has no holes, as these encourage the baked goods to dry out. Because of mold growth, you should clean the bread bin with vinegar once a week.
  • As an alternative to the bread box, you can also use a ceramic vessel, such as a Roman pot.
  • Sourdough, rye, and wholemeal bread are not as susceptible as typical white bread. You can therefore keep them fresh for much longer.
