Kohlrabi with ham

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 6 m.-large kohlrabi
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 200 g ham, raw
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 2 eggs, including the yolk
  • 250 ml milk
  • Salt
  • Sugar
  • nutmeg
  • Cheese, grated
  • breadcrumbs
  • butter
  • broth

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Peel the kohlrabi, cut into thick strips or small slices, sauté in butter, season to taste, dust with flour, add broth until the kohlrabi is almost covered, and simmer until almost cooked. Then mix in the diced ham and the chopped young kohlrabi leaves. Place in a casserole dish. Whisk the egg yolk with milk, pour over the kohlrabi, mix the cheese with some breadcrumbs, sprinkle over the top, add knobs of butter, and bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes! Serve with parsley potatoes and a salad of your choice and seasonally.
