Lentil soup 'housewife style'

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 300 g lentils
  • 1 large onion(s)
  • 125 g smoked bacon (belly bacon)
  • 2 liters of meat broth
  • 2 carrots
  • 1 stalk(s) leek
  • 4 large potatoes
  • 2 pinch(s) thyme, dried
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 4 Mettwurst sausages
  • some salt and pepper
  • possibly vinegar

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Dice the onion and slice the bacon into strips. Sauté both together in a little oil until translucent. Add the lentils and sauté briefly. Then deglaze with 2 liters of meat broth. Add the thyme and bay leaves and simmer over low heat for 30 minutes. In the meantime, peel the carrots and potatoes and cut into small cubes. Trim the leek and slice into rings. Add the vegetables after the cooking time specified above and simmer for another 15 minutes. Slice the sausages and add to the soup. Season to taste with salt and pepper. If desired, add a little more vinegar.
