Cooking eggs – what is that exactly?
The cooking process of eggs is usually referred to as cocooning.
- In general, the term refers to the solidification of food. Eggs do not necessarily have to be involved. Gelatine, for example, should be set in the fridge.
- However, this also includes all types of preparation of food that contain eggs and are heated. So, for example, omelettes or frittatas and creme brulee are also included.
- With some foods, however, it is important to prevent sticking. An example of this would be the recipe for spaghetti carbonara.
How to cook eggs properly – a guide
The art of cooking eggs is that they don’t dry out.
- It is important not to use too much heat. If you want to prepare scrambled eggs, all you have to do is set the stove to medium heat.
- Once the butter has melted, add the egg to the pan.
- If you have previously fried bacon in a pan, the residual heat from the stove is often sufficient to bake an egg. You can actually switch off the stove and save energy.
- Once the egg is set, remove it from the pan. Here it is important not to miss the right moment.
