Delicious themed cake from the mouse (Sektion mit der Maus)
Chocolate Cake (for a 30×40 cm baking sheet): Make a batter from the above ingredients and bake the cake on a baking sheet lined with baking paper in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 40 minutes. Let the cake cool after baking. Enlarge and print out a coloring template from “Sendung mit der Maus” (Crafts). Attach the template to the cake with toothpicks and mark the outlines (I did it freehand). Now remove the template and cut out the outlines. Cut out the two arms and two hands, as well as the ears, from the remaining cake batter according to the template. Now make the buttercream: Beat the butter until pale and gradually add the other ingredients, beating until the mixture is smooth. First, tint the finished buttercream yellow, then add red until an orange color appears, and finally add a splash of blue until the orange of the mouse is visible… (My buttercream was pale orange). Now spread the finished orange buttercream over the mouse’s body. Make the chocolate buttercream for the arms and legs from the remaining orange buttercream by adding about 4 tablespoons of cocoa powder. Spread this chocolate buttercream over the other body parts, except for the ears. Very carefully place the cake on a large plate or baking sheet and attach the arms, legs, and ears to the body. Now mix the icing. To do this, mix about 4 tablespoons of powdered sugar with about 1/2 to 1 tablespoon of milk until you have a thick, spreadable mixture (add more powdered sugar if necessary). Using the split licorice snakes, form two ovals for the eyes and fill half of the eye with the white sugar mixture. Use the remaining licorice as outlines, use the inside of the licorice snake for the pupil and nose, and cover the mouse’s whiskers with licorice. Done! P.S. If you like, you can cut the cake in half beforehand and spread it with a cream filling.
