Liège waffles – This is what you need

For about 10 pieces of the classic Belgian pastry you need:

  • 250 grams of flour
  • 125 milliliters of milk
  • 16 grams of fresh yeast
  • 2 eggs
  • 100 grams of butter
  • 100 grams of granulated sugar
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla sugar

Prepare the delicious waffles – Here’s how

When you have all the ingredients together, you can start preparing:

  • First mix the milk with the yeast, the vanilla sugar, and 3 tablespoons flour.
  • Now knead the mixture with your hands or with the dough hook of the food processor until it forms a smooth dough.
  • Then put the dough in a bowl, cover it with a cloth and let it rise for a quarter of an hour.
  • In the meantime, put the butter in a pan and melt it in it. Then let the butter cool again.
  • Now take a new bowl and add the flour along with the salt, the eggs, and the finished dough.
  • Then mix everything together using the dough hook and meanwhile slowly add the cool and liquefied butter.
  • As soon as a smooth dough has formed, it must be covered for about half an hour. A warm place is best for this.
  • Meanwhile, preheat the waffle iron.
  • As soon as the rising time is over, the granulated sugar can be added to the dough and stirred in.
  • Then put the finished dough in portions in the waffle iron and wait a few minutes. The waffle is ready when it is golden brown.
