Light onion sauce

Spread the love

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 3 medium-sized onions, approx. 175 g
  • margarine
  • 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar, lighter
  • 2 pinches of lovage powder
  • Salt and pepper, white
  • 175 ml vegetable stock
  • 1 tbsp, heaped herb cream cheese
  • Broth powder

Instructions

Working time approx. 5 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 25 minutes

Peel the onion, slice or slice into thin rings. Then halve the rings. Heat the margarine in a pan, add the onion rings, and fry until they begin to brown. Season with lovage, a little salt, and pepper, then add the vegetable stock and balsamic vinegar (or 2 tablespoons if desired). Stir everything together. Simmer for about 5 minutes, or until the onions have the desired bite. Then stir in the herb cream cheese to thicken the sauce. If it’s too thick, simply add a little more stock. Season the onion sauce to taste, perhaps with a little stock powder. Tastes wonderful with bratwurst, meatballs, mashed potatoes… simply with so many things.
