Low-Calorie Pasta: Pasta for the Figure-Conscious

Low-calorie pasta – does such a thing even exist? In our article, we present both pasta dishes and recipes with pasta substitutes for the figure-conscious.

Pasta ideas: This is how the pasta stays low in calories

Noodles have around 350 kilocalories per 100 grams dry weight and there is nothing to shake about that. If you love to eat pasta, you should follow a few tips so that the pasta remains as low in calories as possible.

  • For a low-calorie meal with pasta, you should avoid additional fattening foods. Cream sauce, cheese sauce, or a large portion of oil are particularly rich.
  • Baking pasta also increases the number of calories.
  • The pasta dish remains comparatively low in calories if you mix cooked, grilled, or oven-roasted vegetables with the pasta without oil. Use herbs and instant broth to flavor the dish so it doesn’t taste boring.
  • Tomato sauce is also low in calories if you avoid cream, mozzarella, or cream cheese in the sauce. Simply simmer canned tomatoes with a little vegetable broth, garlic, onions, and a teaspoon of olive oil over low heat until the sauce is the desired thickness.
  • Tip: weigh the pasta before cooking! If a small portion like 80 grams of pasta (dry) doesn’t fill you up, prepare more vegetables to make your portion larger but not higher in calories.

Replace pasta and save calories

If pasta is consistently too high in carbohydrates and calories for you, try low-carb pasta as an alternative.

  • Hardly any calories and yet a lot of important nutrients are contained in “noodles” made from zucchini, pumpkin, or beetroot. It is best to shape the vegetable spaghetti using a spiral cutter.
  • You can now eat your favorite sauce or pesto. Since the veggies only have about a tenth of the calories of pasta, you can also top the dish with cheese without it becoming overpowering.
  • Can’t you completely get used to the pasta substitute? Try the 50/50 alternative. Simply mix “real” spaghetti and zucchini spaghetti.
  • Another alternative is Shirataki noodles. This Asian type of pasta is made from konjac flour and, depending on the type, has 2 to 8 calories per 100 grams. There are not only noodles but also rice for a change from the pasta.
