Expired Beer – Still Drinkable?

Expired beer is not necessarily spoiled

Like many foods, beer also has a best-before date, abbreviated to the MHD.

• So look on the bottle to see how long the beer was or is still good according to the manufacturer.
• A best before date does not mean that the food is no longer edible after that date. The manufacturer only specifies a period in which the beer is guaranteed not to be bad and taste good.
• The beer is not spoiled after this date. You can still drink it a few months later without hesitation.
• However, you have to accept losses in taste and appearance the older the beer is. For example, the liquid can flocculate.
• You can tell how fresh beer is when you open the beer bottle. If there is no pressure here, the beer contains far less carbonic acid than when it was bottled.
• You can see another freshness criterion when you pour the beer into a glass. If only a little foam forms here, the beer is probably no longer fresh.
• You can still drink it. However, you will probably have to compromise on taste.
