Make carrot oil yourself: you need it

You don’t need many ingredients to make carrot oil.

  • For oil, a medium-sized carrot will do.
  • Sesame oil is a good base for carrot oil. You need 200 ml of this.
  • To prepare, you will need a large, clean glass jar with a screw cap or a mason jar.
  • You should store the finished oil later in an amber glass bottle.

Production of carrot oil

Carrot oil can be produced in just a few simple steps.

  1. First, peel the carrot, preferably with a vegetable peeler.
  2. Then grate the carrot roughly and put the grater in the clean glass.
  3. Fill the jar with sesame oil until the grated carrots are completely covered.
  4. Now you can close the jar and put it in a warm place. However, it should not be left in the sun.
  5. It takes about three weeks for the oil to mature. During this time, keep checking to see if any condensation has formed in the glass. If so, gently wipe away with a kitchen towel. During these three weeks, shake the jar from time to time as well.
  6. After three weeks, pour the oil through a fine sieve and fill it into a dark bottle.
