Make Ramen Noodles Yourself – That’s How it Works

Make ramen noodles yourself: this is how it works

The delicious ramen noodles can be made at home without much effort. A step-by-step guide and the required ingredients can be found here:

  • You only need three ingredients for the ramen noodles: 250 g wheat flour, one to two teaspoons of baking soda, and 120 ml of water. First, you need to bake the baking soda. Spread evenly on a baking sheet and put in the oven at 200 degrees for 30 minutes.
  • After the baking soda has cooled, mix it well with the water and add it to the flour. You have to knead the dough thoroughly until you get a smooth and firm mass. If available, you can use a food processor for this.
  • Now you can roll out the dough with a rolling pin. You should wrap the resulting dough sheets in cling film and refrigerate for an hour. Then roll out thinner again and cut fine noodles with a knife. This step works much easier with a pasta machine.
  • You can dust the noodles with a little flour to prevent them from sticking. And now you can cook the noodles in your broth.

The alternative to homemade ramen noodles

Of course, making ramen noodles takes some skill and time, so you can buy them ready-made if you have to:

  • Ramen noodles are now available in all major supermarkets. You can also find a large selection in the Asian supermarket, where you can buy your remaining ingredients for the ramen dish directly.
  • You can also get advice there because there is a wide variety of Japanese noodles. Ramen, somen, and soba are just three of the many flavors you can buy.
  • Also note that the ramen noodles come in different types. So they come in dried form or semi-dried form. They are available completely raw, steamed or in instant form. You will find out which type is right for you simply by trying it.
  • You can simply add the finished ramen noodles to the broth of your ramen dish and cook them in just a few minutes.
