Make Flatbread Yourself – Here Is The Recipe

Make flatbread yourself: This is required

You can use the following recipe to make a regular-sized flatbread. As a side dish, it is enough for several people, as the main meal you will get enough for two heavy and three average eaters.

  • 0.5 cubes of fresh yeast
  • 450 grams of flour
  • 300 milliliters of lukewarm water
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 0.5 teaspoons of salt
  • 0.5 teaspoons of sugar
  • 1 small egg
  • some sesame and black cumin

Instructions: Make pita

After you have all the ingredients ready, follow these steps:

  1. Put the yeast in lukewarm water together with the sugar.
  2. Stir the mixture vigorously until the yeast breaks up and the sugar dissolves.
  3. Sift the flour into a bowl. Add the yeast mixture and salt.
  4. Mix the dough vigorously with a dough hook or your hands until a smooth dough is formed.
  5. Let the dough stand covered in a warm place for 30 minutes. It is best to cover the bowl with a slightly damp towel.
  6. Put some flour on the work surface and knead the dough vigorously again with your hands.
  7. Preheat the oven to 220 degrees top and bottom heat and place the flat cakes on the baking tray covered with baking paper.
  8. The flatbread should be about 25 cm in diameter. Let the dough rest on the baking sheet for another 10 minutes.
  9. Beat the egg and add a pinch of salt.
  10. Now use the back of a knife or a spatula to press the well-known diamond pattern into the flatbread.
  11. Brush the dough with the egg mixture and spread some sesame and black cumin over it.
  12. The flatbread is now baked in the oven for 10 to 12 minutes, depending on how brown you want it to be.
  13. Tip: Place a heat-resistant container with some water in the oven. This keeps the bread soft on the outside as well. 200 milliliters of water are enough.
