Make Ginger Shot Yourself: Nutritional Values, Preparation and Effect of the Immune Booster

Making a ginger shot yourself has several advantages: It’s cheaper, fresher and you know exactly what’s in the ginger shot. This means that you do not have to take any preservatives or colorings at the expense of your health.

Make your own ginger shot – This is how the immune booster works

Both your wallet and your health benefit from the homemade ginger shot. In addition, it is simply self-made and at least a little more sustainable than the purchased variants.

  • Ginger shots are originally intended to boost the immune system. If you feel ill, have been in close contact with people who have a cold or just want to give your immune system a boost, you can use ginger wonderfully.
  • The immune boosters are very easy to make yourself. Ginger is often combined with citrus fruits – the mixture with lemon is particularly popular. Citrus fruits contain vitamin C, which is important for the whole body. Vitamin C is one of the antioxidants and, in addition to its significant effect on the immune system, is also essential for the formation of collagen.
  • Ginger itself has been known as a medicinal product for thousands of years. For example, it works against nausea. Ginger can therefore be used against travel sickness on boat or ship trips. Ginger also contains gingerols. These are essential oils that help against colds.
  • For ginger shots, it is best to use ginger with the skin on, provided it is of organic quality. The essential oils are mainly located directly under the bowl. You can also add turmeric in addition to ginger . Turmeric has an antioxidant effect and reduces inflammation.
  • Not everyone likes the taste of ginger shots with lemon. That’s why you can optionally sweeten your shot. Use either some sugar, dates, honey or a syrup of your choice. To further change the taste of the shot, you can try it with other fruits. Apples or pears, for example, are suitable.
  • Above all, the shots have a waking effect and stimulate the metabolism. Ginger shots are particularly useful in winter. Everyone benefits from a morning shot because the drink improves the immune system. But you shouldn’t overdo it. You should not drink more than a small glass a day, otherwise you could suffer from indigestion, bloating or pain.

Ginger shot – The classic variant

For the classic ginger shot you only need two different ingredients: ginger and lemons. Both should be of good organic quality.

  1. Take about 70 to 80 grams of ginger and wash it off. If the ginger is not organic, you should carefully remove the peel. Now cut the ginger into pieces that are suitable for your blender.
  2. Then squeeze the juice from three lemons. Place the ginger pieces in a blender along with the lemon juice.
  3. Now the ingredients should be mixed well and crushed. It is up to you whether you use a hand blender, slow juicer or blender. You can now decant the shot you have made into small, easily sealable bottles. You can store the shot in the fridge for a day or two.
  4. In addition to the essential oils in ginger, lemons also contain essential oils and vitamin C. Vitamin C is very important for the whole organism. Vitamin C is also essential for your body to absorb iron from food. Lemons can even help you lose weight. The shot also curbs hunger and appetite. That is why it also helps people who want to lose weight. Vitamin C is also a powerful antioxidant.

Ginger shots: More variants

If the pure juice of lemons is too acidic for you, you can replace some of the lemons with oranges.

  1. For the ginger shot with orange you need about 100 grams of ginger. Proceed with it as in the first recipe. You can either cut it into cubes or slice it. Instead of three lemons, you need one lemon and two oranges in this recipe. Squeeze the citrus fruits well.
  2. Puree the mixture and pour it into a bottle. For a more interesting taste, you can add pieces of apple and turmeric to the mixture before pureeing. For example, you can add maple syrup to make the shot sweeter. You can also try other flavor combinations.
  3. Turmeric is a panacea and has been known for thousands of years, especially in Indian medicine. It supports a wide range of complaints from joint pain to cancer prevention. However, even if you take turmeric regularly, its bioavailability is relatively low. You can increase them by adding pepper or some oil. Linseed or coconut oil are particularly suitable for this.
  4. The ginger shot is so healthy because it boosts the immune system. You achieve this effect through the trace elements contained in the shot, such as magnesium, potassium, phosphorus and iron, as well as the large amount of vitamin C. It is best to drink the shot in the morning. This is how you start the day strengthened – try replacing your morning coffee with a shot!
  5. Don’t rush into drinking. People with a sensitive stomach should have a snack beforehand, people with a non-sensitive stomach can drink the shot on an empty stomach. If the ginger is too spicy for you, drink the shot slowly or mix in some water.
