Make Pumpkin Puree Yourself from Just One Ingredient – That’s How it Works

To make pumpkin puree yourself, you only need one ingredient. In this article, we will introduce you to two methods to turn squash into a delicious puree.

Make pumpkin puree yourself: Here’s how

For a delicious pumpkin puree, you only need one squash. For example, a Hokkaido pumpkin is ideal for the following recipe.

  1. First, cut your pumpkin into cubes and remove the pumpkin seeds. If you’re using a Hokkaido squash, you can leave the skin on, otherwise, you’ll need to use a knife to remove the skin from the pieces.
  2. Then fill a large saucepan with water and heat it until the water boils. Now you can add the pumpkin pieces.
  3. The squash needs to cook for about 20 to 30 minutes so that it softens. After that, you can drain the water.
  4. Now all you have to do is puree the cooked pumpkin pieces. A blender is ideal for this.
  5. You can then process the homemade puree directly or fill it in sealable jars and keep it in the fridge for about 5 days.

A second preparation method that is suitable for making a delicious pumpkin puree is to prepare it in the oven:

  1. For this type of preparation, you must first preheat your oven to 200 °C top and bottom heat.
  2. In the meantime, you can deseed and dice your pumpkin. You can only remove the peel after baking.
  3. Place the chopped pumpkin on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and place it in the oven for at least 30 minutes.
  4. Once the squash is soft, you can take it out of the oven. Then let the pieces cool down for a short time and possibly remove the shell if it is not edible.
  5. Then the pumpkin only has to be pureed using a hand blender. After that, the pumpkin puree is ready and ready for further processing.
