Make Rice Milk Yourself – That’s How It Works

Make rice milk yourself: ingredients and utensils

  • 1 cup rice (do not use risotto rice)
  • 6 – 7 cups of water (depending on desired consistency)
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 pinch sugar (alternatively: stevia or coconut blossom sugar)
  • Sieve
  • Pot
  • blender
  • bottle for filling
  • Cotton cloth, cheesecloth, or nut milk bag

This is how making rice milk yourself works

  1. Put the rice in a sieve. Rinse the rice thoroughly with water, discarding any dark grains.
  2. Put the rice in a saucepan and boil it with two cups of water, some salt, and sugar. Remove the pot from the heat once the rice is tender and the water has been completely absorbed.
  3. Add two cups of water.
  4. Blend the rice and water until you get a mushy consistency. Gradually add more water. The rice should be well blended before you process it further.
  5. Now sift the rice milk through a cotton cloth or nut milk bag. Catch the rice milk in a suitable container.
  6. Fill the finished rice milk into glass bottles. The milk will keep refrigerated for three to four days.
