Make your own mustard with figs

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 400 g fig(s), fresh or dried
  • 200 ml port wine, red, alternatively sherry
  • 1 stalk(s) cinnamon
  • 3 tbsp sherry vinegar
  • 150 g coarse-grained mustard
  • n. B. Salt

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Homemade fig mustard is delicious, versatile and also makes a lovely souvenir.

Cut the cleaned, fresh figs into eighths. You can discard any very thick skins. Bring the figs, port wine, and cinnamon stick to a boil briefly, then simmer over low heat for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Season with salt, add the vinegar, stir, simmer briefly again, and then remove from the heat. Stir in the coarse-grained mustard and pour the now-finished fig mustard into jars.
