Making Strawberry Vinegar – Instructions

Making strawberry vinegar – that’s what you need

Homemade strawberry vinegar not only gives your salad dressing a beautiful color, but also a pleasant fruity and extravagant aroma.

  • If you want to prepare one liter of strawberry vinegar, you need 300 grams of strawberries. Fresh strawberries work best. However, you can also use frozen fruit.
  • You will also need a liter of vinegar. White wine vinegar or apple cider vinegar goes well with the fruit.
  • Use a large container to prepare the vinegar. The vinegar is later bottled.
  • Tip: If you would like to give the vinegar as a gift, attractive Mediterranean-style glass bottles are available in stores.

Recipe: How to make vinegar from strawberries

Making strawberry vinegar is easy and not at all complicated.

  • First, wash the strawberries if you are using fresh fruit. The greens and stems should be removed. Check the strawberries for rotten spots. Such fruits are not suitable.
  • Rinse the container in which you prepare the strawberry vinegar with boiling water and let it air dry. Then put the fruit in, fill in the vinegar and seal the jar airtight.
  • The vinegar now needs a good four weeks to mature. During this time, the strawberries give off their aroma and color to the vinegar. Vinegar matures best in a cool, dark place.
  • After this time, bottle the vinegar. To do this, strain it through a fine sieve lined with a clean cheesecloth. Rinse the bottles with boiling water beforehand.
  • If you close the jars after filling, the strawberry vinegar will keep in a cool place for about three months.
