This is how we love asparagus

Wash the asparagus thoroughly, peel it, and trim off the woody ends. Heat two tablespoons of butter in a sufficiently large pan and fry the asparagus spears over medium heat for about 15 minutes on all sides until golden brown. Divide the asparagus between two warmed plates. Season with salt and pepper. Then drizzle with lemon juice to taste. Tip: The asparagus should still be crisp and firm to the bite. If you want the asparagus to be cooked al dente, cover the pan with a lid for the first 5 minutes. The cooking time will be reduced by about 5 minutes if you cut the asparagus into 5-centimeter pieces.
