Fruity plum curry sauce with bratwurst

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 jar plum(s)
  • 350 ml cola
  • 500 ml ketchup
  • 2 tbsp curry powder, sweet
  • 1 tbsp curry powder, hot
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ lemon(s), the juice
  • 1 pinch of cinnamon
  • Salt
  • 8 sausages

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour

Drain the plums and reserve the juice (approx. 150 ml). Add cola to the juice, making up to 500 ml, and heat. Simmer half of the plums in the sauce until the liquid has reduced to about 1/5. Then puree with a hand blender. Stir in 500 ml ketchup, 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce, the juice of half a lemon, and the curry powder, and bring the sauce to a boil briefly. Season gently with a pinch of cinnamon, as it shouldn’t be overpowering, and season with salt. Fry the sausages and slice them. Cook them in the sauce for a while and serve hot. Serve with bread or chips.
