Mardi Gras Donuts

The perfect mardi gras donuts recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 50 g Margarine
  • 50 g Sugar
  • 1 Egg
  • 125 g Quark
  • 150 g Flour
  • 50 g Food starch
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 4 tablespoon Milk
  • Vegetable fat or frying oil
  • Sugar to sprinkle on
  1. Mix the margarine, sugar and egg until frothy.
  1. Add the quark and stir
  1. Mix the flour, cornstarch and baking powder together and then fold in.
  1. Add the milk and mix everything into a smooth (sticky) dough. If the dough looks too dry, add a little more milk.
  1. Heat the vegetable fat, or optionally the deep-frying oil, in a large saucepan. Then cut off the dough with two tablespoons (dip briefly in the hot fat / oil beforehand) and place in the hot fat / oil. Remove from the bottom immediately and fry in a floating manner. (Rotate again and again)
  1. When the donuts are a nice brown color, remove them and drain on household paper. Then roll in sugar. FINISHED
