Mashed Potatoes Casserole

The perfect mashed potatoes casserole recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 1,5 Kg Potatoes
  • 500 g Minced or mixed beef
  • 500 g Frozen peas
  • 150 g Grated cheese
  • 1 piece Onion
  • 2 piece Garlic cloves chopped
  • 1 piece Butter
  • Milk
  • Salt
  • Nutmeg
  • Minced meat seasoning from my KB
  • 1 tbsp Tomato puree
  1. In the meantime, boil the potato cubes in salted water, sauté the onion, garlic, tomato puree, minced meat and season with the minced meat spice and fry.
  1. Heat frozen peas in salted water
  1. When these are soft, pour off the water and add butter, salt, nutmeg, milk. Do not prepare the mashed potatoes too runny – it must have a firm consistency because it becomes more runny when gratinating – due to the fat in the grated cheese – make it drier as usual.
  1. When all the ingredients are ready, mix the mashed potatoes, peas and minced meat in a large saucepan
  1. Half-fill a buttered gratin dish, then pour the grated cheese over it, fill the rest with the mixture and sprinkle with grated cheese again
  1. Gratinate in the oven for about 20 minutes at 200 degrees
