Mashed Potatoes Casserole
The perfect mashed potatoes casserole recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
- 1,5 Kg Potatoes
- 500 g Minced or mixed beef
- 500 g Frozen peas
- 150 g Grated cheese
- 1 piece Onion
- 2 piece Garlic cloves chopped
- 1 piece Butter
- Milk
- Salt
- Nutmeg
- Minced meat seasoning from my KB
- 1 tbsp Tomato puree
- In the meantime, boil the potato cubes in salted water, sauté the onion, garlic, tomato puree, minced meat and season with the minced meat spice and fry.
- Heat frozen peas in salted water
- When these are soft, pour off the water and add butter, salt, nutmeg, milk. Do not prepare the mashed potatoes too runny – it must have a firm consistency because it becomes more runny when gratinating – due to the fat in the grated cheese – make it drier as usual.
- When all the ingredients are ready, mix the mashed potatoes, peas and minced meat in a large saucepan
- Half-fill a buttered gratin dish, then pour the grated cheese over it, fill the rest with the mixture and sprinkle with grated cheese again
- Gratinate in the oven for about 20 minutes at 200 degrees
