Matjes fillet with apples

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 8 fish fillets (matjes fillets)
  • 250 ml milk
  • 5 tbsp mayonnaise for salad
  • 1 cup of yogurt (cream yogurt)
  • 125 ml cream
  • some salt
  • some pepper, white
  • some sugar
  • some allspice
  • 3 m.-large apples, aromatic-sweet fruity
  • 3 m.-sized onion(s)

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 4 hours; Total time approx. 4 hours 30 minutes

Pour the milk over the herring fillets in a bowl and let it marinate for 60 minutes. Mix the mayonnaise with the creamy yogurt, whip the cream, and fold it in. Season with pepper, sugar, and allspice. Peel, quarter, core, and slice the apples. Peel the onions and finely slice them. Loosely mix all the prepared ingredients with the marinade, refrigerate, and let it marinate, covered, for at least 4 hours.
