Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 4 herring fillet(s), mild
  • 1 onion(s), red
  • 1 gherkin(s)
  • 1 apple, sour (e.g. Elster)
  • 3 sprigs of parsley
  • 250 g mayonnaise
  • 50 ml cream
  • salt and pepper
  • Sugar

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Rest time approx. 3 hours; Total time approx. 3 hours 15 minutes

Serve with bread or boiled potatoes

Cut the herring fillet and gherkin into small cubes, and thinly slice the onion. Chop the apple into small pieces. Mix the mayonnaise and heavy cream together, season with salt, pepper, and sugar. Carefully stir in the remaining ingredients and let it marinate in the refrigerator.
