Matjes with Herb Sauce

The perfect matjes with herb sauce recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 200 g Cream / sour cream 20% fat
  • 150 g Cream 10% fat
  • 1 Diced shallot
  • 1 Apples red
  • 0,25 bunch Frankfurt herbs
  • 1 tbsp Lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper
  • Sugar
  • 4 Herring fillets
  1. Mix the sour cream, cream, salt, pepper, lemon juice and sugar. Cut the shallot into fine rings. Quarter and core the unpeeled apple. Finely slice the apple quarter. Finely chop the herbs.
  2. Fold everything under the cream mixture. Serve with herring. We also had jacket potatoes.
