Maultaschen and spinach casserole

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 450 g leaf spinach
  • 400 g Maultasche(s)
  • 1 onion(s)
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 150 g mountain cheese
  • 200 g cream
  • 3 tbsp oil
  • ½ tsp oregano
  • Salt
  • pepper
  • chili flakes
  • nutmeg

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 25 minutes; Total time approx. 55 minutes

Defrost the spinach according to the package instructions. Cook the Maultaschen in boiling salted water according to the package instructions. Squeeze the spinach thoroughly and chop roughly. Finely slice the onion and sauté in a pan with hot oil. Briefly sauté the spinach. Season with salt, chili flakes, and nutmeg. Preheat the oven to 220°C. Fan-assisted cooking is not recommended. Drain the Maultaschen well and cut into pieces approximately 3 cm wide. Grease a baking dish with butter and place the Maultaschen in the pan with the cut sides facing up. Arrange the spinach around the spinach. Coarsely grate the cheese and sprinkle over the top. Season the cream with salt, pepper, nutmeg, and oregano and whip until semi-stiff. Spread over the cheese. Bake in the hot oven on the middle rack for 15 minutes. Serve immediately.
