Maultaschen casserole with tomatoes

Ingredients for 3 servings:

  • 10 Maultaschen
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 1 onion(s)
  • 4 mushrooms
  • 200 g cooked ham
  • 150 g cheese, grated
  • olive oil
  • chili oil
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 40 minutes

Cut the Maultaschen into approximately 1 cm wide strips and arrange them in a baking dish. Slice the onions into rings, quarter the mushrooms, and thinly slice the ham. Brown everything in plenty of olive oil with a little chili oil. Meanwhile, dice the tomatoes and arrange them on top of the Maultaschen in the baking dish. Season the onion, ham, and mushroom mixture with salt, pepper, and ground chili flakes, if desired, and pour it over the tomatoes. Drizzle with more olive and chili oil. Sprinkle with grated cheese and place the dish in the oven at 175°C for about 20 minutes. You can leave out the mushrooms if you don’t like them; the casserole tastes just as good without them.
