Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 12 Maultaschen
  • 2 chili peppers
  • 200 g cheese, grated
  • 4 slices of cooked ham
  • 3 tomatoes, diced
  • 1 can of tomatoes, pureed
  • 1 onion(s), finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed with salt
  • 200 g dried meat, diced
  • Tomato paste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • some butter

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Heat olive oil in a pan and fry the dried meat. Add the onions, garlic, and finely chopped chilies (seeded if you like, but be careful, it’s very hot!). Add the diced tomatoes. Fry everything for a while, then deglaze with the passata. Let the sauce simmer gently for about 10 minutes, until it becomes slightly creamy. Thicken with a little tomato paste, if desired. Grease a baking dish with butter and spread some of the sauce on the bottom of the dish. Place a layer of Maultaschen on top and spread a layer of ham on top of the Maultaschen. Cover with sauce and sprinkle some cheese on top. Continue layering in the same way until all the ingredients are used up. Spread the remaining cheese on top as the final layer. Top with flakes of butter and bake in a preheated oven at 220°C for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
