Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 2 m.-large orange(s), untreated
- 2 small red chili peppers
- 3 cloves garlic
- 3 spring onions
- 2 slices of toast
- 600 g minced meat, mixed
- 1 egg yolk
- 3 tbsp oil
- 400 g tomatoes, peeled
- 6 tbsp soy sauce
- ½ tsp instant coffee powder
- 2 tbsp honey
- salt and pepper
- Cinnamon
Instructions
Working time approx. 35 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 25 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour
Wash the oranges in hot water, thinly grate the rind, then peel, fillet, and dice. Wash, trim, and deseed the chilies and finely slice them. Peel and finely dice the garlic. Peel, wash, and slice the onions into rings. Mix the minced meat with the orange peel, onions, breadcrumbs, egg yolk, salt, pepper, cinnamon, 4 tablespoons of soy sauce, and half each of the garlic and chili, and knead well. Form the minced meat into 20 meatballs. Heat the oil and fry the remaining garlic and chili until translucent. Add the tomatoes, honey, remaining soy sauce, coffee, and oranges, and simmer for 15 minutes. Meanwhile, fry the meatballs in the oil until translucent. Then add them to the sauce and simmer for another 10 minutes, seasoning with salt and pepper. Serve with white bread or rice.
