Instructions
Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 40 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 40 minutes
Cream the butter, sugar, and salt until fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add the lemon zest and vanilla extract. Then stir in the milk a spoonful at a time. Finally, fold in the sifted flour mixed with the baking powder. Cover the batter and let it rest briefly in the bowl. Butter a springform pan and dust with flour. Pour half of the batter into the pan and top with apple slices. Pour the remaining batter over the batter and cover with the remaining apple slices. Bake the apple pie at medium heat (approx. 160–175°C) for approx. 30–40 minutes until golden brown. If desired, you can mix cinnamon and brown sugar into the apple slices (they will caramelize slightly). You can also mix ground almonds or hazelnuts into the apple pieces. However, this should only be done with the apples placed on the first layer of batter, as otherwise they will quickly turn black.
