Meringue ice cream with strawberries

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 liter ice cream (vanilla ice cream)
  • 3 egg whites
  • 50 g sugar
  • 500 g strawberries
  • Sugar, for the strawberries
  • chocolate sauce

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Works great under the grill!

Preheat the broiler in the oven (IMPORTANT!). Slice the strawberries and sweeten them slightly with sugar. Set aside. Whisk the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Finally, stir in 50g of sugar. Before serving, place the ice cream block in a suitable baking dish. Brush all over with egg white. Then place the whole thing under the broiler until the meringue turns light brown (it really works). Serve with the strawberries and chocolate sauce. The ice cream will have a creamy edge but retain its cold center. We’ll serve it decorated with sparklers for my brother’s wedding.
