Ingredients for 6 servings:
- 300 g tomatoes, pureed
- 250 g minced meat
- 2 medium-sized onions, finely diced
- 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
- 4 tbsp ham, diced
- 200 g sauerkraut, slightly chopped
- 1 gherkin(s), finely diced
- 600 ml meat broth
- 1 tsp sweet paprika powder
- ½ tsp caraway seeds, ground
- 1 tbsp chili powder
- 1 small jar of schnapps, e.g. juniper
- 6 tbsp sour cream or crème fraîche
- 2 tbsp chives, chopped
- salt and pepper

Instructions
Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes
A hearty, savory soup
In a pot, brown the minced meat, onions, garlic, and diced ham. Add the sauerkraut and simmer for a few minutes. Add the crushed tomatoes, top up with the meat broth, and bring to a brief boil. Add the diced cucumber and spices, season to taste, and top with juniper schnapps. Serve hot; top each bowl with a dollop of sour cream and sprinkle with chives.
