Minced meat casserole with gnocchi

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 vegetable onion(s)
  • 1 garlic clove(s)
  • 2 cm ginger, peeled
  • 250 g minced meat, mixed
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 can of tomatoes, chopped, 400g
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 150 g cheese, grated
  • Salt
  • pepper
  • Herbs of Provence
  • oregano
  • basil
  • 1 tbsp pink pepper, ground
  • 30 g smoked bacon in cubes
  • 100 ml cream
  • 500 g gnocchi

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 50 minutes

Dice the onion and sauté in 2 tablespoons of oil. Dice the garlic clove and add it, along with the grated ginger. Sauté everything over medium heat until soft. Then add the minced meat and increase the heat, as well as the diced bacon. Fry everything until browned. Then add the tomato paste and fry briefly, followed by the diced tomatoes. Season with salt and pepper. Add the herbs and pink peppercorns and let it simmer for a while over low heat. Add the cream, stir, and season again to taste. Arrange 500g of gnocchi in a baking dish and pour the minced meat sauce over it. Sprinkle with grated cheese and bake in an oven preheated to 200°C (top/bottom heat) for 25-30 minutes.
