Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 2 potatoes, peeled and diced (2 cm)
  • 2 tbsp ghee or clarified butter
  • 2 onions, cut into rings
  • 1 chili pepper(s), green, chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 6 tbsp water
  • 750 g minced beef, pork or lamb
  • ½ tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tsp cumin, ground
  • 1 tsp cardamom, ground
  • ½ tsp chili powder
  • ½ tsp clove(s), ground
  • 2 tsp coriander, ground
  • 150 g peas, green
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 125 ml coconut milk
  • Salt
  • pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 25 minutes; Total time approx. 25 minutes

Keema

Heat ghee or clarified butter in a saucepan. Add the onions, chili pepper, garlic, and ginger and sauté until softened, stirring occasionally. Add the potatoes and water. Cover and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add the ground beef, turmeric, cinnamon, cumin, cardamom, chili powder, clove powder, and coriander. Stir-fry for 10 minutes, until the beef is browned and the liquid has reduced. Add the peas, tomato paste, and coconut milk. Simmer uncovered, stirring, until the liquid has reduced. Season with salt and pepper. Serve with rice.
