Minced meat strudel with cheese

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 portion of strudel dough, store-bought or homemade
  • 2 onions
  • 2 tbsp butter, liquid
  • 500 g minced meat, mixed
  • 1 egg(s)
  • 3 tbsp cream
  • salt and pepper
  • Parsley
  • Cayenne pepper
  • 200 g Gouda, grated
  • 1 egg yolk, beaten, for brushing

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour

Peel and finely dice the onions, and sauté them in 1 tablespoon of butter until translucent. In a bowl, combine the minced meat with the sautéed onions. Then add the egg, cream, spices, and chopped parsley and mix. Roll out the strudel dough and brush with the remaining melted butter. Spread the minced meat mixture on top, sprinkle with the cheese, and roll up the strudel. Place on a baking sheet lined with baking paper and brush with the egg yolk. Bake in a preheated oven at 170°C (350°F) for about 30 minutes. Tip: For homemade strudel dough, I recommend Stellakrisba’s “Basic Recipe for Strudel Dough.”
