Festive cookies with a Christmas aroma
Knead the dough ingredients until smooth, wrap in cling film and let rest in the refrigerator for 1 hour. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to a thickness of about 4 mm, cut out stars, and place them on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Cut out smaller stars from half of the stars, leaving a 1/2 cm wide edge. It’s best to do this directly on the baking tray so the edges don’t warp when placed on the baking tray. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C (top/bottom heat) for about 10 minutes. Then let the stars cool completely on a wire rack. Heat the mulled wine jelly. Spread some of it all over the stars and place a star-shaped border on top. Dust with icing sugar and fill the inside with mulled wine jelly. Use a toothpick to spread the jelly into the corners and let it dry overnight.
