Mushrooms during pregnancy cannot be completely ruled out
Mushrooms can be dangerous during pregnancy. But it depends on which mushrooms you eat.
- Cultivated mushrooms that have been cleaned and washed well usually do not pose a problem.
- Wild mushrooms are dangerous. This includes, for example, chanterelles, which you can buy in the supermarket.
- Wild mushrooms can be radioactive. Heavy metals also accumulate in mushrooms.
- Wild mushrooms are also often enriched with fox tapeworm eggs.
- These eggs contain hemolysins, which can attack your body’s red blood cells.
Better to avoid mushrooms
During pregnancy, you should pay close attention to what you eat so as not to harm your baby.
- If possible, avoid mushrooms in order to harm yourself and the unborn child as little as possible.
- Never eat wild mushrooms, as they can contain many harmful substances.
- If you still want to eat mushrooms, then always use cultivated mushrooms such as button mushrooms. Always wash mushrooms with water before eating.
- Also, do not eat cultivated mushrooms raw. Heat them sufficiently during preparation.
