Mustard pears

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 1 kg pear(s)
  • 300 ml vinegar (honey or mild white wine)
  • 200 ml dry white wine
  • 2 tbsp mustard seeds, yellow
  • 1 tbsp mustard powder, yellow
  • 1 ½ tsp sea salt
  • 250 g sugar
  • 1 tsp spice mix (Garam Masala)

Instructions

Working time approx. 45 minutes; Total time approx. 45 minutes

Spicy version of preserved pears, great with meat and cheese

Quarter the pears, peel them, and core them. Then roughly dice them. Bring the vinegar, white wine, and all the spices to a boil. Add the diced pears and simmer over low heat until al dente. Remove the pear pieces and place them in jars. Bring the stock back to a boil and pour over the pears. Immediately seal the twist-off jars and let them cool upside down. The pears will keep for about a year.
