A thin flatbread and a typical Indian side dish to curries and rice dishes.
Mix the milk and yeast and let it rest in a warm place for about 15 minutes until the yeast has dissolved. In a bowl, mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, and a pinch of salt. Then add the milk and yeast, along with the vegetable oil, yogurt, and egg. Knead the dough until smooth and supple and cover with a thin layer of oil. Cover the bowl with cling film and set it in a warm place for about an hour. Once the dough has doubled in size, knead it again and form it into 5-7 balls. Roll the balls out into thin flatbreads on a floured surface. Set the oven to the highest setting and fry the flatbreads in a non-stick pan without oil. Turn the bread over briefly as soon as it starts to bubble. Naan bread is a good accompaniment to curries and rice dishes. Wrapped in cling film, the dough balls freeze very well, allowing you to make fresh naan bread at any time (defrosting time is about one hour).
