New Year's

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 500 ml water
  • 180 g butter, melted
  • 300 g sugar
  • 3 packets of vanilla sugar
  • 500 g flour
  • 2 m.-sized eggs
  • 1 pinch of cinnamon
  • ½ vanilla pod(s)
  • 2 tsp anise (not ground, whole grains)

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 12 hours; Total time approx. 12 hours 30 minutes

from Münsterland, makes about 50 pieces

Important: You need a croissant iron for this preparation, not a waffle iron, as unfortunately it won’t work with that!!! Add the sugar to the water, stir, and wait until the sugar has completely dissolved. Add the flour and mix in with a mixer. Then add the melted butter, sugar, vanilla sugar, and eggs and mix well. Split the vanilla pod lengthwise and scrape out the seeds. Add to the batter along with the cinnamon and anise and mix again. Let the batter rest in the fridge for a few hours, ideally overnight. Preheat the croissant iron. Pour approx. 2 tablespoons of batter into the croissant iron and bake until golden brown. Take it out and immediately shape it into a croissant. Unfortunately, it’s always a bit hot on your fingers, so I get my husband to help you; he’s better at it than I am! If you like, you can also place the still-hot croissant over an upturned glass and press it down. Once cooled, peel it off, turn it over and you have a delicious, edible bowl for ice cream, cream, pudding, etc.!
