Nut braid a la Vera

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 500 g flour
  • 1 packet of yeast (dry yeast)
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 70 g sugar
  • 60 g butter / margarine
  • 200 ml milk, lukewarm
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 pck. flavoring, lemon flavor or grated lemon peel
  • 160 g hazelnuts, coarsely chopped
  • 200 g walnuts, coarsely chopped
  • 3 tbsp apricot jam
  • 2 tbsp rum
  • 1 tbsp Amaretto
  • 30 g sugar
  • possibly maple syrup
  • possibly sugar icing
  • possibly almond(s)

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 30 minutes

Put the flour in a bowl. Mix with the yeast, sugar, and salt. Heat the fat and milk in the microwave. Add to the flour along with the eggs and flavoring and knead into a smooth yeast dough. Shape into a ball, dust with flour, and cover and place in a slightly preheated oven for 30 minutes. Meanwhile, mix all the ingredients for the filling together and set aside so the alcohol can infuse. When the dough has doubled in size, remove it from the bowl and knead well on a floured surface. Then roll it out into a large rectangle and spread with the filling. Feel free to add everything! Roll it up tightly from the wide side and place on a baking sheet or in a plaited pan. Brush with milk or egg, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes. When the plait has risen, bake at 180°C until golden brown. About 30 minutes, depending on the oven! A skewer test is recommended. If you like, you can spread a little maple syrup on it towards the end of the cooking time. Allow to cool thoroughly and decorate with icing stripes and almond flakes if desired!
