Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 250 g flour (whole wheat flour)
  • 100 g butter
  • 6 tbsp honey
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 60 g walnuts, grated
  • 3 tbsp cream
  • Lemon(s) peel
  • 1 pinch of cinnamon
  • 200 g walnuts, coarsely chopped
  • 4 tbsp honey
  • 6 tbsp cream
  • 40 g butter
  • Flour for the work surface

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 2 hours; Total time approx. 2 hours 30 minutes

Knead flour, butter, honey, egg yolks, walnuts, cream, lemon zest, and cinnamon into a rather soft shortcrust pastry and chill for 1 hour. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to a thickness of 3 mm and place it on a baking sheet. Bring the honey, cream, and butter to a boil, add the nuts, and simmer briefly. Let cool slightly and spread over the shortcrust pastry. Bake at 170°C (350°F) for about 30 minutes. Let cool and slice. This also makes a great Christmas treat.
