Ingredients for 10 servings:
- 10 pork schnitzels
- 10 onions
- 350 g ham
- 2 large cans of mushrooms, sliced
- 250 g Gouda, grated
- 500 ml cream
- 2 cups of crème fraîche
Instructions
Working time approx. 10 minutes; Rest time approx. 12 hours; Cooking/baking time approx. 1 hour 30 minutes; Total time approx. 13 hours 40 minutes
can be prepared one day in advance (but it doesn’t have to be)
Dice the onions and ham and sauté them with the mushrooms in a pan, then let cool. Mix the cream and crème fraîche together. Layer the schnitzel and the braised ingredients in a casserole dish, sprinkle with cheese, and pour over the cream. Cover everything with aluminum foil and refrigerate for 24 hours. Then bake in a preheated oven at 150-160°C (top/bottom heat) for 90 minutes, covered with the aluminum foil. You can also bake the casserole immediately without letting it sit for 24 hours. It tastes great with rice, pasta, or baguette.
